Where does CKAP spend its money?

While most of you understand that maintaining a budget is essential for your personal finances as well as operating the family farm or any business, CKAP must do the same thing.

In 2009 CKAP is proud to announce we finished the year in the black after falling slightly into the red the previous year.

            CKAP is a non-profit organization but w
e do however have expenses such as insurance, repairs to the sled and equipment, fuel, point’s jackets and advertising. With that being said I am very proud to say that all the people power that goes into our pulls is donated, as well as a large portion of things like pull back tractors, grader tractors, grader, roller, and sometimes even dozers, backhoes, and high-lifts to prepare the track for our pulling pleasure.

In 2009 we were blessed with many sponsors as well, like Cooks Pharmacy, Wright Small Engine Repair, Yount Equipment, Jacobi Sales, Forever Red Pulling Team, scat-r.com, and UHL Truck Sales.

CKAP has always tried to give back to the community in some form or fashion. In 2008 CKAP along with some additional private donations sponsored a family in need which fell on hard times. In 2009 CKAP was able to increase its sponsorship to over 1000 dollars providing toys and other needed items to multiple families. Some of the CKAP Directors even went shopping for toys and boy was that a sight to see (three bumpkins in a toys-r-us not knowing the difference between Sponge Bob & Pokémon or Transformers & Bakugan Battle Brawlers). We feel this is just a small way that we can give back to our community and share the fun and joy we have obtained from our tractor pulling family.

For 2010 we would like to challenge our pullers to help us increase these contributions. At every pull we will have a donation box available and any amount donated will be spent solely for needy families and within the means available CKAP has agreed to match dollar for dollar any amount given for disadvantaged families. CKAP has worked closely with our local Family Resource Center to make sure these funds go to where they are needed the most.

So now when you pay your hook fees, you may have a better understanding of where your money goes and what it is used for. We invite each and everyone to come out to our pulls, bring the family and have a good time.

We always welcome your comments on what is working and what is not, so please feel free to call me or send on e-mail. We look forward to yet another great year of pulling!!!
